      David Hodkinson Indeed, I assumed the train was bound for Liverpool Street, but maybe not. Did 47's ever work the Birmingham trains? 47543 was a Toton loco then, although had been allocated to Stratford for a couple of brief periods so would probably have been to Norwich before. A typically nomadic 47/4 it had spent time on the MR, WR and ER.

      Wrong platform for a Brum, and too long, thats a London train, I remember 543 being about for a while, and yes they did work Brum services.

      Not quite sure why they would leave a load of gas bottles on the end of the platform! HSE would go bonkers nowadays! Bless em...

      Antony Guppy From 'Marra Man'........'Two things, point heaters or catering vehicles. My money is on point heaters. The catering car ones would never be removed in a station as they were below solebar height. Some lazy p-way bloke has not stored them in the caged compounds as was generally the case when empty.'
