Ethiopian Muslims took advantage of a period of relative calm after two days of bloody violence in their capital Addis Ababa to celebrate the Islamic festival of Eid al Fitr to mark the end of Ramadan. Tens of thousands of Muslims poured up Churchill Road, one of the main thoroughfares in the city, chanting religious slogans, dancing and celebrating peacefully. An uneasy calm reigned over Addis Ababa on Thursday, as convoys of armed federal police and special forces, some inArmoured Personnel Carriers and Humvees, patrolled the streets.
