Maurice Sendak died today, so I dressed up like Max and shot this. Graflex Graphic View II, Fuji 4x5 Instant Film.
I remember the idea of sailing away for weeks and weeks and over a year, far far away to the Land where the Wild Things Are played on my young mind powerfully. Too young to really understand that one day I would be in charge of my life and escape intense situations if I needed to, this story filled my mind with dreams of fleeing to a land of adventure and friendly monsters.
It also probably has a large amount to do with my penchant for collecting and hanging out in adult-size fuzzy monster suits - but that's a story for another couch thank you very much Sigmund.
RIP Maurice, thanks for the fantasies.
nerdy camera talk:
This was shot on the 1949 Graflex Graphic View II 4x5 monorail camera that arrived yesterday. Shot with a with a 210mm lens.
Getting used to exposure compensation when the bellows is extended, I'll have to experiment with the metering some more.
