In the background is the vintage Wisconsin Field House, built in 1930 and home to the UW-Madison basketball team for many years.
In the foreground is the not-so-vintage "Nails' Tails," a statue installed in 2005 that was designed by local artist Donald Lipski and ostensibly consists of a tower of footballs. It looks like a concrete pile struck by artillery shells, and I'm obligated to go past it every time I ride downtown.
Maybe I'm being harsh. By Big Ten standards, it's not the most embarrassing statue that exists.
