Abandoned Kmart and Sears Grand store, Oshkosh, WI

I really don't know what to make of Kmart. I had a vain hope that the company might exit bankruptcy with some kind of coherent retail vision in mind; but they've only spent the last seven years floundering; swallowing up Sears, jumping from one half-arsed concept to another, and perpetually closing stores.

This ancient building in Oshkosh seems to have been caught up in all of this. After serving close to forty years as a Kmart, the whole shebang was painted orange and converted to a Sears Grand store in May 2006; only to close exactly three years after that. And somehow, this doesn't surprise me at all...
