Office building

    Newer Older

In my neighborhood there used to be a huge factory belonging to OM, a very old truck company (founded 1917). Milan is an industrial city, and OM is very much a part of the history of the city, and the factory has been a landmark of this part of the city.

The factory shut down at some point, and was a ruin for a long time. A few years ago the whole area was demolished and a big renovation project was created; housing and office blocks were built, with green spaces and all that.

A large part of that area has been dedicated to three parks. One of them is very appropriately known as "Industrial Memories Park" and is dedicated to the memory of the men and women that have worked in this area.

They kept some machinery from the old factory and build a garden in and on and around the. From an industrial world a new world is born where iron tools mingle with nature in a new embrace.

It came out third in POTW #49 (the Picture of the Week contest on the
    Milanouel!W

To my utter surprise and pleasure, this picture has been chosen to represent the Milanouel!W group in a post on 02blog , a blog about Milan.

It has also been published on Metro, a free newspaper.

If you particularly like it (or if you just want to support a poor student), you can buy this printed and framed at ImageKind.

Congratulations on receiving more than 50,000 views -- that's quite impressive! Now that you've reached this major milestone, you might want to consider graduating this photograph from the 'Views: 25,000' group to the 'Views: 50,000' group, which can be found here: www.flickr.com/groups/views50000/

Once again, congratulations and hopefully your photos will receive many more views in the future! Reminder: Per group rules, photos should only be in one 'Views:xx' group at a time. Once you have graduated the photograph from one 'Views: xx' group to another, remember to remove the photograph from all previous 'Views: xx' groups.
