Woe Betide the Chicken Born in India
We were stopped next to this motorcycle at a railroad crossing for several minutes before I realized that the chickens were looking around a bit. I was grossed out when I thought they were dead, and horrified once I saw they were alive. I've often remarked about the heavy karmic debt that must condemn a soul to be born a chicken in India. Among the meat-eating crowd, the Hindus shun beef and the Muslims abhor pork, so the meat stocked and served in greatest abundance is the lowly chicken.
It was also interesting how no one paid any mind to the train crossing barrier. All the pedestrians just ducked underneath, as did the cyclists and motorcycle riders. Even Chicken Man hopped off and maneuvered his bike under the barrier after a while.
