Draining the Tsujunkyo Aqueduct, Kumamoto 通潤橋 熊本

Each fall, the aqueduct gets drained for the cold season and all the TV stations from Kumamoto send crews to cover it. I was just lucky on this day because I hadn't paid any attention to the schedule, and just pulled in to see the water begin after following back roads from Naidaijin Bridge. The aqueduct and the many stone bridges in the area date from the early Meiji period.
