Gt. Gt. Gt. Grandmother Neff

I've had the most fun and exciting day that I've had in a long time! My Uncle Tim had been ill, and recently came home from the hospital. So this evening I baked an almond pound cake, bundled in some berries & whipped cream and had a nice visit with him and my aunt. On my way out I asked if I could borrow some old family pictures to scan, and my aunt got a box out full of things from my Grandmother's family that has had my Mother and I marveling for hours. It's a treasure trove of photos we'd never seen. I will be able to draw portraits for a year, with all of this!

As for this one:

My Gt. Gt. Gt. Grandfather, Joseph Neff, was an early Ohio photographer, and we are almost positive that this is his wife. (Mary?) It doesn't bear his signature, as some of the other ones do, and I will try and get more details from another relative, but I'm estimating that this would be from about 1860, at a very rough guess.

Genetics amaze me. There is a very consistent thread in a lot of these early ones. Full, dark eyebrows, deep set eyes, full mouths..and the one feature that I escaped (but which I adore on many of my family members) a somewhat prominent, but not unattractive, nose...
