RTT Sewalong, 10cm, 4"
Gayle Brindley posted the Camelot quilt pattern which is full of wonderful circularblocks. I remarked they looked quite similar to the V&A Reviewing the Troops quilt, except of course they were a much more achievable size.
Then Gayle went off and found us the world's most difficult sewalong of 10cm (4" blocks). Even if you don't make the blocks, it's worth visiting the sewalong because the patterns are so beautifully illustrated.
I showed Lynne the circles and we all said "sure let's do it" and then pushed it aside. Well Gayle went and made her first tiny block this morning, so I felt compelled to give it a try. Not bad for a first go. The point on the right seems were way out. I fixed them after the photo. I've completely ignored all of the rules about where to place light and dark fabric. I randomly choose things I liked and fussy cut. Many thanks to everyone who has swapped microprints with me that helped make this block possible
I certainly won't be piecing hundreds, but I did enjoy this mini-challenge. I wonder if I should wait for Lynne to catch up before moving onto block 2.
