This photo was taken as an assignment for a workshop I particpated in with Preston Schiedel. The assignment was to go to the Richardson Beachhouse and take one photograph. This was a very challenging assignment for me as I tend to take many photographs and then narrow down which ones are "worthy" when I'm processing them. Overall I'm happy with how this one shot turned out, although I ended up doing a bit more cropping and processing for the Flickr version (cropping wasn't allowed for the assignment).
The workshop was part of the Exposures program which aims to cultivate photographic art practices in Kingston through a series of professional workshops, culminating in a curated exhibition of photographs by workshop participants presented at the Art Centre.
The next workshop will be with Edward Burtynsky, one of my favourite photographers, so I am very much looking forward to the opportunity to do a workshop with him.
