The first two assignments I was given for school were two different self portraits. One of which, this one, was to be a metaphorical self portrait. The reflection represents how others, mainly loved ones, may see or describe us. This depiction is smooth, and the flaws aren't as visible. The stick itself represents how the person (or I) sees themselves (or myself). We each see our flaws at a heightened levels. Each hole is easily spotted. The edges are sharp rather than smooth. We all see our imperfections in a far harsher light than those who love us do.
I worry that some may consider this a bit of a stretch but I really feel a connection to this portrait, so I feel that it's message can ring true to those who understand my outlook on it.
