Laxmi Janardan Temple, Daspur, West Midnapore

One of the best terracotta temples of Daspur. The State Archeology Department did not undertake it and the temple was decaying down. The temple belongs to the Pal Family of Daspur. One of descendants of the family Nabakumar Pal took huge loan from market to repair and repaint it in recent times. The walls of the compound of the temple and a Dolmancha are in a pathetic shape, but Mr. Pal do not have enough many to repair them. The Terracotta art on the walls are extremely detailed and are still intact withstanding the vagaries of time. It is sad that such an work of art is not undertaken by the the State Archeology Department.

Daspur is a two hour bus journey from Panshkura. You can reach Panshkura by a local train journey from Howrah station.
