Flash floods
Ultimately, if a warning comes too late, or if a flood comes too fast, one of the only things to do is to abandon everything and save yourself. In rural Bangladesh, they take whatever is to hand - in this case, banana palms - and construct makeshift rafts. They may lose their homes, but at least they can get to safety.
Here, children play with old rafts over the flooded fields. Luckily, when I visited this community, the embankments were holding. Others in the country were not so lucky.
