The farm in Kenya where I stayed was an amazing place - an extended family living close to their neighbours with a mised use farm descending down the hill behind the houses to the valley where the thin stream of water that they drew from everyday was located.
the family there were heavily involved with the conservation organisation that I mentioned before, and they had a passionate commitment to improve their own community and help those within it that had less than they had.
By the standard of New York, they had little. But they offered us all they had. In these humble dwellings, booming with hip-hop permanently, with mobile phones constantly plugged in waiting for electricity, I spent my nights. And I have seldom had more generous hosts.
