Hurricane Sandy 2012

November 10, 2012, Jersey City, New Jersey. In a Jersey City, New Jersey warehouse on Saturday, 11/10/12, at 8am, Red Cross volunteer Jay Hahn works with hundreds of other volunteers to bag and deliver over 100,000 “Sandy Kits” for storm weary New Jersey and New York residents. Here, he is opening a box of work gloves that will go into the kits and in the background you can see another red cross worker carrying hand and toe warmers. The “Sandy Kits” are large multi-use bags contain supplies that storm victims have been asking Red Cross workers for since the storm hit: blankets, work gloves, trash bags, flashlight, batteries, baby wipes, hand sanitizers, hand and toe warmers and guidelines and safety tips on helping kids recover after the storm. Volunteers were also delivering Red Cross clean-up kits with bleach, rope, buckets and cleaning supplies. Photo by Talia Frenkel/American Red Cross
