PEER Ambassadors Inaugural Reception

PEER Ambassadors

The American Jazz Museum initiated another way for advocates and supporters of the arts to get involved with promoting the message of the organization. The very first PEER Ambassadors program reception was held on November 15, 2011 with about two dozen people in attendance.

PEER Ambassadors are asked to actively participate in three primary areas: (1) simply help spread the word about the American Jazz Museum and the programs we offer; (2) recruit 10 people to become PEER Ambassadors and join the team; and, (3) consider becoming a table captain at the PEER Into The Future luncheon on April 16th.

PEER is an acronym for the American Jazz Museum’s tenant operational mission areas of: Performance, Education, Exhibitions and Research. We invite all readers to join us.

Highlights of the event included remarks by AJM Board Member, John Readey, who recalled his first exposure to jazz music and how that has impacted his continued interest in all aspects of the art form to this day.

Attendees also heard from Greg Carroll, CEO of the American Jazz Museum via his testimony which included the vibraphonist performing jazz musical excerpts in concert with his remarks.

And, of particular note was the fact that the event’s music was provided by a modern creative jazz trio that was led by AJM Director of Education, Dennis Winslett. Mr. Winslett in his acknowledgments of the group members made note of the fact that the two young professional jazz artists were products of the American Jazz Museum’s Jazz Institute program.
