DiRT 2 - High Dynamic Range - DirectX 11
View this scene using DirectX 9
High Dynamic Range lighting can be rendered at a higher quality in DirectX 11 than in DirectX 9 without the performance hit (R16G16B16A16 texture format in DirectX 11 vs. R8G8B8A8 texture format in DirectX 9). This allows for true Dynamic Range lighting, and no loss of color precision/depth. Post-processing effects, such as motion blur, are also executed at full screen resolution for maximum quality using DirectX 11, whereas using DirectX 9 they are only executed at one-fourth resolution due to the performance hit one would see were they to be run at full screen resolution.
