FRANKAL HOTEL - Kibera streets

    Newer Older

It is illegal to build permanent structures in Kibera. Mabati is the swahili name given to corrugated iron sheets, a popular building material in the slums, which is supposed to be relatively strong and durable. The Frankal hotel, with its mabati exterior and questionable interior, stands in sharp contrast to the idea we usually associated to a hotel, with star rankings and presentation, even prestige.
