Moist Mountain Moss

In less than a week I'm returning to Northern Saskatchewan for another field season, so today Jordan took me for a 'quick' hike to Upper Shannon Falls. Nearly 4 hours of speed hiking later we find ourselves back at the car. The trail starts about half way up the Chiefs Peak trail where you take a branch to the South that crosses Olesen creek. It then meanders over and under logs, along flooded sections, and past several stunning view points as it works its was to the upper regions of Shannon Falls and even more breathtaking views of Howe Sound and the Squamish valley. I felt especially lucky to be out hiking through the lush green forests surrounding Squamish because soon I will be in a frozen world of whiteness and cold. I stopped to take a look at a boulder that showed a promising problem hidden under the moss. Quickly I was distracted from the dream of climbing by a glint of sunlight illuminating this moist moss.
