Al Lulu Island, Abu Dhabi...For Al!
Al Lulu Island is a 1,050-acre (4.2 km2) man-made island off the coast of Abu Dhabi island. It stretches from the Abu Dhabi Breakwater to the Zayed Sea Port. Land reclamation was completed in 1992. After several plans which were subsequently dropped, the island is now being developed by Sorouh as a mixed commercial and residential project. It was also rumoured that Al Lulu Island was going to be a tourist destination for a Disney theme park during the mid-90's.
And this is the only glimpse I got of it, looks good from where I was sat. I didn't really know what this was until I got back and looked it up. But I certainly wouldn't mind some time there doing nothing, sadly though I think doing nothing there will not be the case for much longer, I found out that in January this desert Island paradise was closed to the public pending development, so expect some fancy skyscrapers anytime soon!
This image is dedicated to a wonderful flickr friend of mine Almonkey, who is currently taking a break but took the time to write me a lovely testimonial...Thank you Al! Please do check out his photostream, he is extremely talented!!!
How does everyone like their new profiles? I really don't like the fact the testimonials are all down the bottom now and not down the side, makes the side area look bare and redundant.
