The First Forage of the Spring
I walked in the park on Monday evening and collected some greenery from around the community garden. I found a ton of comfrey (see this photo for notes on the plant and how I prepare it) and a little bit of melissa.
Melissa, or lemon balm, has a lovely sweet, citrusy flavor that is so comforting even to smell. Sometimes as I walk I'll pick a few leaves and just smell them and not even take them home. These leaves, along with some dried melissa from last spring, made a sweet, relaxing tea for my evening.
What have you been collecting lately? :)
