St. Agnes Cemetery - Menands, NY - 09, Oct - 01

A few photos I took at the St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands, back in October 2009. Out of 20 I'll post, two were meant to enter a contest organized by the diocesan; the winning entries were... comically surprising to say the least. A good lesson. Blogged.

Check this specific one large on black. I like it, but it is a bit problematic in that it feels very photoshopped to many, and even to me a few months later. I should have kept a larger view to show what was going on, but the lighting was pretty much as is: a menacing storm was about to erupt in front of me, and the sun was still beaming at the statue from behind my position. This made the statue really stand out, and I had to take that shot :)

This is really incredible! You couldn't ask for more dramatic lighting conditions. :)

It's too bad about the winners...

Yep, looks like HDR or some off-camera flash. It's striking though. You have the RAW file if anyone really gets a bug up their ass.

Hmm, oddly I don't think it looks very photoshopped. But, I also spend a lot of time in cemeteries & have seen similar film maybe I'm just more likely to believe you.

      Very nice capture.

I didn't see it as PS'd either. Living in the region (near where 2 valleys meet), I know we get this lighting condition from time to time and I love it.
