Elusive Qanitaq

February 3, 2008

Qanitaq is Inupiaq for shed, or the entry way in between your outside door and the door into your house. This picture contains several details of my life in Alaska. First, our outside door was left open overnight. When we woke up, our qanitaq was filled with snow. Grrrrrrr.... All it takes is one night of forgetting to close the latch, and I have to shovel the snow and chip out the ice.

You can also see the cooler covered with duct tape and luggage tags. Steve and I always travel with coolers. Any time we leave Shishmaref we bring back milk, sour cream, oranges, lettuce, and peppers. This cooler has made several trips on airplanes full of produce and meat.

This cooler is also doubling as storage right now. We brought back so much stuff after Christmas that it couldn't quite fit in our freezer...

I applied Elusive's Actions to this picture. Again, it made my own picture look better. I thought I did pretty well on my own, but these changes enhance the image. I can't wait to learn about photoshop to do this on my own!
