Space Shuttle Atlantis move
On January 20, 2012, Space Shuttle Atlantis was moved from Orbiter Processing Facility 2 to the transit aisle of the Vehicle Assembly Building for storage while Shuttles Discovery and Endeavour were fitted for retirement.
Atlantis is missing its three Space Shuttle Main Engines and its Orbital Manuevering System pods. The SSMEs will be replaced by Replica Space Shuttle Main Engines for display, and the OMS pods will be returned when they are completely cleaned of the toxic, hypergolic propellants that they housed.
