Vintage Parchment - Colored Replogle Globe
This gorgeous globe features seas the color of parchment and vanilla lattes. This 12 inch globe is one of the "Globemaster" series by Replogle. It sits on a caramel-colored metal base, and has a semi-circular metal mount.
The globe has raised relief, in which changes in land elevation are indicated by the surface texture. At the top of the globe is a separate translucent caramel-colored time dial.
Based on a guide to dating globes on the Replogle web site, this globe was made in 1991. It is a snapshot of history - for example, Russia was still the U.S.S.R. at that time (the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics).
According to replogleglobes.com, Luther Replogle founded the company in 1930 by selling hand-assembled globes from his Chicago apartment. Replogle founded ScanGlobe in 1963. The company continues to make globes today.
