Nubra valley. The oasis of Ladakh. At 10,000 feet altitude, nested amongst the Himalayan ranges is this green and beautiful valley. To the edge of the valley are the desert sand dunes, home to double-humped camels left behind as the souvenier of the erstwhile silk route.
The strange mixture of mountain, snow, sand dunes with its camels and the green valley filled with wildflowers would leave you enticed and disoriented.
I asked the farmer standing under the lone tree what the yellow flower was. He replied, "pata nahi. maine to gehu daala tha, lekin sarson ugal gaya" :D
