Davis Mountains Scenic Loop - Sawtooth Mountain

Sawtooth Mountain rises to an elevation of 7,686 feet above sea level. On the mountain, a surface of shallow, stony soils supports scrub brush and grasses. In 1941 engineers of the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation discovered the name of Christopher (Kit) Carson carved on a huge boulder, with the date December 25, 1839, at the Rockpile.
