Today was DCAD's costume parade. At the last minute, Dani and I decided to be Princess Bubblegum and Marceline. The costumes turned out way better than expected, especially for being so last minute, and I couldn't have been more pleased. The people who participate in the costume parade always walk down the gallery until they reach the judges, walk on the tiny "stage", show of their costume, and then walk back. Dani and I held hands the whole walk and I spun her around when we got on the stage just because of all the stuff on Tumblr involving Princess Bubblegum and Marceline. It was really cute. I guess the judges thought so, too, because we got third place in the group costume category. This is a major feat in our books, as last year we didn't win anything with our rad Phineas and Ferb costumes. I have no clue what I'm going to do when I don't have Dani around for Halloween next year. Or at all next year, for that matter. This is weird because she will maybe read this.
In our goodie bag of candy and gift cards, we each got a $20 gift card to Qdoba, so after Photo II we went and got burritos to celebrate. Since I had my hair in a wig for my Marceline costume and I had to put a hat on afterwards because my real hair was gross, when we went back to the apartment I washed just my hair and put shampoo in my hair when it was dry and made some cool faux-hawks and other hairdos with it before I washed it out. Then, I went to the darkroom and developed and printed photos for my Craft class. When I got back to the apartment we watched some episodes of The League and How I Met Your Mother. Then, Hayden showed us Crispy Creme (the rapper), I showed him Locomotive Curt, and then he found some bizarre movie on accident called Funky Forest. I didn't like it at all. It kind of freaked me out. Lastly, guy came over and we watched two episodes of Freaks and Geeks (big surprise) and before he left I made my lame attempts at humor but he still hugged me a few times and said that since it's Friday and the weekend we can hang and watch movies and then go to Frightland on Sunday and oh god he was so close to my face and yeah I just kept thinking "ya know, just do it, man" but nope I just kind of ran away and said "goodnight, I hope you don't dream of squirrels" (I mean, it is an inside joke) because that is the exact way that I get men to like me. I don't know how it's working so far but actually I guess it's kind of working somewhat okay because he keeps wanting to hang out with me and we keep "running into each other" a lot but it's whatever because I like it. I like the fact that I can not talk to someone all day but see them at night and just talk about everything. It's refreshing, especially compared to having to talk to someone all day otherwise they'd think that I hated them or that something was wrong. I like how guy seems just as interested in hanging out with me as I am in hanging out with him. It's nice to be at least liked as a friend by a guy who isn't a complete controlling jerk, and regardless of what mine and guys status ends up being, I'm just glad to have at least a friend in him and in Hayden and Kyle. I just like knowing that not all dudes are jerks and have the capacity to care about people and watch Freaks and Geeks with me. That's all I want with my life right now. Well, that and some ice cream.
