Earth Day 1

Kailyn Placey, 7, of St. Petersburg, reacts to an inquisitive butterfly released in honor of Earth Day at All Children's Hospital John Hopkins Medicine by students from Bay Point Elementary School. In addition to the butterfly release, the celebration in Zoe’s garden featured a cooking demonstration by chef Tyson Grant of Parkshore Grill who lost his daughter Zoe in 2009 and, with his wife Sommer, dedicated the garden at All Children’s Hospital in her memory. Fresh herbs, vegetables and fruit grown in the garden are used by the hospital and Grant’s own culinary staff. Bay Point students also decorated the wings of artificial butterflies that included messages of well wishes to patients at All Children’s Hospital.
