"blue skies from pain"
And in many ways this is a little reminder to my good friend Paul who is leaving these shores next week for Australia! Yep, Oz' watch out because Mr Jones is on his way to steal your gems! I also feel that anyone in the Northern Hemisphere appreciates that sunrises are now getting painful to catch!
My alarm went off at 4.40am this morning to get me on my way to pick up Paul and then meet Ed up at Cambois beach! Ouch! This is a beach which reminds you of the roots of the North East of England, a region steeped in Coal Mining History, the mines closed in Cambois in 1968 but still the shores of the beach have black coal dust washing ashore.
So a grand morning with a sunrise that gave us more than we expected, great company from the boys, topped off with a lovely bacon sarnie down at the beachside cafe at Blyth!
Well, I'm sure I can embarrass Paul some more this week with sentimental tributes to my young travelling pal but for the minute; I'll let our images remind him of what we'll be feasting on whilst he's shivering away in Australia!
Once again chaps thanks for a cracking morning chasing the light!
Pink Floyd ~ wish you were here
"So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
And cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange
A walk on part in the war,
For a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here
