"Beware of Old Black Nab" ~ {Explore}

Inspired by the brutality that is Saltwick Bay.

Words cannot describe what this place is really like! This is Black Nab at Saltwick Bay, Whitby in North Yorkshire. It's also home to the shipwreck of the Admiral Von Tromp.

As I processed this image I was surprised that it was so quiet. When I tried to stand here and create this image, I was battling to stay on my feet. The reef is like a sheet of ice, the water rushes over the reef at a rate of knots, the spray hits you in the face and the icy wind blows all around you!. Oh and did I mention how cold it was? So cold that your hands freeze, your face aches and your mind goes numb with the sheer force of mother nature.

This wasn't the image I had hoped for as I lost the image with lots of sea foam streaking past this big rock - I lost it to the sea spray! Grrr!

I can honestly say this place feels as remote and windy as Hadrian's Wall and so much more slippery than Dunstanburghs death rocks! But you find yourself smiling at the madness of Black Nab and the rush you get from being so scared by the noise and the force all around you!

So if you ever get an offer to go to Saltwick Bay make sure you go but brace yourself and beware of old Black Nab!

Many thanks to MJackson | Photography , Mick Ridley & ~~Anita~~ for such a superb day!
