"a bridge too far"
Inspired title for the wee Belhaven Bridge, East Lothian, in Scotland.
Spanning the Biel Burn at Belhaven Bay, the old iron bridge offers a dry crossing for walkers on the road to John Muir Country Park, and a place of safety from the rapidly rising tide.
Having seen some wonderful images of this bridge, I just had to find it on my way back home from a business trip to Scotland. My good buddy Anita had spotted it just a week or so before me and I knew then that it was no longer fiction but fact! It really did exisit!
What you never realise from the images on flickr is how "odd" it really is in reality. Here's a bridge on a beach! Yes a bridge that takes you over the outgoing or incoming tide and well, you can only go some where if the tide is out!
However, what it does do is give us photographers a chance to play with something quite unique! Unfortunately as I was heading home it was a case of hitting this place regardless of the conditions! So full sun meant a 10-stopper and hoping for a little bit of movement in a rather lazy sky!
What did surprise me is that there is a paved area that you can walk on to get to the bridge at low tide so I felt it gave me a nice lead in line to the bridge!
Well I hope my landscape/seascape followers are happy again? I realise the light painting is not to everyone's cup of tea; but it has really helped me get my creative juices flowing!
In fact my financial juices have been flowing too! On eBay! I have been buying plenty toys and "props" to create even more light painting fun! And tonight I am experimenting with star trails in my back garden! Have a look on my Facebook page and you'll see last nights star trail!
Take care and see you soon!
