the daybed again. it's a simple "sofa" shape, sort of like Ikea's Klippan, made from pressure treated lumber and the base is a pallet. the mattress is a futon mattress - it took a lot of trial and error to get the mattress just right as something that could be left out in the elements. the first futon mattress - we covered it with a tarp but it ended up soaked and mildewed. then we tried an air mattress which was uncomfortable. finally we went back to using a futon mattress but this time we covered it thoroughly with two heavy gauge vinyl shower curtain liners. we duct taped them into place and over any potential seams/water spots. it's been out there for a few weeks and the water dries right up. the back and side pillows are channels built up of standard sized bed pillows.
