Auburn Dam Site

Location of where they were going to locate the Auburn Dam (and may still do). Extremely faulted area, primarily composed of Serpentine and Talc (talcum powder) with the American River running through it. On the right is the concrete footing for the dam, more concrete has been pumped in there than in almost any other dam footing, in an effort to consolidate the loose hillside. Not actually from this trip, just showing something we saw.
