River North

Shall we gather at the river, Where bright angel feet have trod;

With its crystal tide for ever, Flowing by the throne of God?

-Robert Lowry (1826-1899)

The north end of the river is undeveloped. It is designated wet lands and must remain wild. The water is shallow here and the only way to navigate this area is by canoe or kayak.

My husband and I discovered this end of the river shortly after moving into the house, in the dead of winter. As we approached the most shallow part, three Great Blue Heron flew over our canoe. They looked like pre-historic creatures, pterydactle, flying. We were speechless and knew we moved to the right place.
