For some, the Shortest Days are the Longest Days.
Throughout the year the HPAD group have done a few charity shots to raise awareness for varying charities close to our hearts.
The group organised another one for this week - I was told it was because the fab Bryony is having her cochlear implant today. I had a couple of vague ideas for photos but hadn't really decided what I was going to do and tbh kind of forgot about it.
Logged into the HPAD group this morning and there was a reminder - phew! However, my fellow HPADers lied to me and infact todays shot is dedicated to people like me who have family in the forces who are away this Christmas. Fellow HPADer Tummymonster's husband is also away this Christmas.
This is the writing that they came up with:
"For some, the Shortest Days are the Longest Days
All over the country, there are wives and girlfriends, husbands and boyfriends, parents, brothers, sisters and, perhaps most poignantly, children who will be missing those they love most this Christmas.
Our friends Alex and Kathryn (AliDaDas and Tummymonster) are both without their OHs as they're away serving and we think there should be a way to say "Thank you" - whatever you think of the rights and wrongs of our middle east strategy they are missing loved ones because our government thinks the UK need a presence out there.
We think we owe them a debt of gratitude, this is our tiny way to try to repay it"
And they're right - the shortest day can seem like the longest and lonliest day.
