little winter joy

Autumn cherry - although usually flowering at Christmas or soon after.

 

I planted one in memoriam of my father about 30 years ago. It flourished and gave enormous pleasure every Winter. 20+ feet high it was a feature of the garden.

When it died a couple of years back (honey fungus?) I replaced it, in extensive new soil. But it is struggling - producing just enough tiny blossoms to remind us ........
