Away from the feeder
I was trying to catch some hummers away from the feeder. This isn't easy. There's the focus issue (they move real fast) and the lighting issue. I shot a little slower here to get better lighting, but I got some blur. My conclusion is I need to shoot at least 1/1000 to get stop action (except for the wings, for them at least 1/1250 or higher). This was taken with an Olympus EVOLT E-300 with a 40-150mm lense. I was shooting ISO 400 with at 1/800 at 5.6, on a bright sunny morning.
AND NO: It's probably not my last hummingbird shot. In June I get great evening light. That'll be next.
