HBW!: Canalside bokeh factory + flowers; Keihin Canal, Samezu, Tokyo

    Newer Older

    Happy Bokeh Wednesday!

I was out with my wife two days ago, with the kids and a friend to visit the local shrines and pay our new year respects. I left the others [they got the train to the last shrine] and walked back towards home via the canal which is just off the old Tokaido Road in our area. Light was fading fast and I spent a while trying to get these flowers, as the wind was blowing them and even at f/1.4 I was down to about 1/60th sec at 500ISO. So any motion was ruining the shot. Waited ages until I got a few shots I liked.

I had to have this shot though as the bokeh from the rows of lights on the block of flats in the background was awesome.

    Nikon D300
    Nikkor 85mm f/1.4 AF D @ f/1.4

Amazing one ... How do you get those light circles behind the image ... when there are some in background ?? I never get :(

I was helping myself to get a shot like this ... But its true that I am still illiterate

f/1.4 lens, Aditya. Primarly subject is close to lens and the lights are distant.

It all hinges around that super-large aperture though.
