The Fallen; Momiji leaves on the ground, Omori, Tokyo

    Newer Older

Global warming seems to be keeping the leaves on the trees for longer these days, but they are almost all on the ground now. These two were laying in the gutter straked by afternoon sun. Seen whilst walking my daughter home from school.

Global warming has basically all of Canada in the grip of a huge arctic air mass right now (that even brought snow to southern California and Las Vegas).

Love that razor thin depth of field, Alfie. Wonderfully composed too!

The one leaf seems to be reaching out to the other as if to comfort or console it--a kind of tender touch. The image says much about the fragile and temporal nature of life--and the beauty that may be found in the humble.
