The Dragon Bridge

Vietnam - Day 1 of 12, 17:08. The Long Bien Bridge was built by Gustave Eiffel in 1898. It spans across the Red River. As seen in this photo, it now stands like a patched-up war veteran. Some parts of the original structure remain intact, while large sections have clearly been built later to repair the holes. In this way the bridge is a strong visual expression of history. Crossing the bridge on the center wooden planks was quite an experience!
