Aareschlucht selfie 1
On my recent trip to Switzerland I've made a few selfies in the wonderful gorge of river Aare (Aareschlucht), mostly to give the sence of scale to the photos rather than showing off my ugly mug ;-)) since the place was quite deserted.
This is the first one I'm posting, more to come soon.
And for those of you who might be interested (if any...) here is some background info about this photo:
Due to dear relatives I've visited Switzerland many times and I've never missed a visit to Aareschlucht since it's one of my very faves (not without a reason as you can tell)
Many years ago I've shot a daylight photo in this particular place and the lucky presence of some random tourists made that photo very special, giving scale and depth. So I wanted to (partly) replicate that old photo and since no one else was around (more so, willing to stand still for the 15 secs necessary for the right exposure) I decided to expose myself :-)
The problem was that contrary to other selfies I've made in the gorge shot wide, this one was shot with a longer focal length and the place I had to stand was a bit away from the camera. Not having a wireless remote with me, I had to put the camera timer to its longest timing and run really fast to get there in time, stand completely still for 15 secs and pretend I was really calm and lost in the beauty of the place! Lost in the charm of the place I certainly was, but calm I was not!!
Considering also that the first few trials didn't come out as expected and as a result I had to run back and forth three or four times, I was left pretty breathless by the time I did this one...
