Mt. Olympus, the residence of Gods
I was having a look at my archives today and found this (which I re-processed)
This is Mt. Olympus in Greece (yes, the famous one from the Greek mythology...) and this is quite a rare sight! Rare because I shot it from the port of Thessaloniki (Greece's second largest city) and the distance from where I was standing, to the top of the mountain, standing proud at 2917m (about 9.500ft) above the sea, is no less than 80km (50 miles) in a straight line!!
So you can guess that throughout the year the mountain is really invisible from the city. But I was lucky to be there on such a windy day, that the mountain was not only "just" visible, but you could see every small detail on it, as if it was standing really close!
The wind also produced a nice mist on the sea-surface (obviously by turning the top of the waves to spray...), that gave this extra "mystery" look to the photo.
