Reading (30th/52)

    Newer Older

I read a lot of books since 2008 has started. Looking at this shot, you might think it bores me to death but, in reality, I'm really loving it ;).

If I may suggest a book to read if you're looking for something, try Barney's Version by Mordecai Richler (and please if you do, don't go on wikipedia's page for Barney's Version, it's the worst page ever, giving out only the story's ending and nothing else).

By the way, my only SD card just broke down (I know, only one!). It did happen as I tried to delete my photos after transferring them though. I'll have to get me another one quickly!

What a cool idea for a photo! I wonder how many books I have read this year....

Can you tell me more about Barney's Version?

Barney's Version is a novel written like the narrator is writing his memoirs. So, the story is Barney's Version of one of his life's major events which is related to a murder (don't want to say too much). The first half is a little hard to read because the story jumps back and forth, from one anecdote to the next. It's actually divided in three sections (one for each of his three wives) but the divisions don't mean much. The main character is not the standard hero-type and he does do some hateful things but for readers, he's very likable ;)

The book is really funny and the second part really makes it worthwhile. I read it twice actually and the second time was even better (and I don't usually read books several times).

I don't know how easy to find this book is though. The author is from here so it might not be that common in other countries but I know it was translated and I'm pretty sure it's been published internationally. You can find it on Amazon if not elsewhere.

Thank you! :) I will look for it today when I am out. Is it recent?

It was published in 1997. I hope you find it :)

Hi, I just saw your photo here www.good.is/post/a-new-study-says-america-is-losing-its-e...

Thought you might want to know if you don't already...

I already knew about this one but thanks for letting me know :) Most of my photos are creative commons so I do get bloggers and online sites using my photos once in a while. I usually find out by seeing the referrals links in my stats.

I equate your outward expression to that of many students struggling to read and understand what they read due to a learning disability; however, I desire that inwardly they share your same enjoyment. I used your photo on my website at www.readingboosters.com/Understand-a-LD.html. Thank you for sharing it CC.
