So as stated by Strobist: I read up, got my flash off-camera and had fun! :D
My first real lighting shoot taking out my SB-800, tripod and umbrella:
I just wanted to have a real go at learning to light a subject on the fly, after sucking up knowledge from some Strobist posts, I expected this was going to be a nightmare, I'd only really thought about how to light like this in theory so I expected that in practice my lighting would be shocking....
To my surprise it went pretty well. This was my second picture out of the camera, it turned out exactly how I wanted it to, I like it, I hoped someone could give me their thoughts?
Lit with one SB-800 to camera right at about 1/32 power, 8 feet high facing down at a 45° angle onto subject, triggered using Nikon's CLS (Creative Lighting System).
