Silver Lake Neighborhood Council, July 2nd, 2008
I attended the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council this Tuesday, July 2nd, 2008. I went because the Council was considering endorsing the Cyclists' Bill of Rights, which I co authored with Stephen Box and Mikey Wally. In the process I got to see an interesting fight over the election process of the council. Almost two hundred people attended the meeting, primarily because of that issue.

The Council voted 16-1 to endorse the Cyclists' Bill of Rights. The lone objection came from Spencer Strauss, who objected to #8, which asserts that cyclists have the right to be actively engaged as a constituency by gov't.

Afterward I went to a Ridgeway party, and then on the ride home the LAPD harassed and threatened my friend Paul. There are photos from both elsewhere in my sets.
