The slautgher in Darfur
23 June 2010. Abu Shock: A displaced family in Darfur (Sudan) has to work for three days to buy a single chicken. Spite of the expensive prices, the slaughters work every day to distribute meat across the state. The slaughterers work without good hygienic and sanitary conditions and recognize that the animals, after being sacrificed, spend ten minutes before dying. Ten minutes suffering which, due to the tradition or the lack of education, nobody knows how to avoid them.
In open areas, surrounded by rubbish, insects and rats, they kill the animals, chop them and prepare the pieces for their distribution to the market. Photo by Albert Gonzalez Farran / Unamid / www.albertgonzalez.net
