Herring Gull In Flight

Had a great day out on the Isle of May the other day and saw lots of puffins, terns, razor bills and so on. I got a few decent shots but not having a long lens I didn't get any close ups. But on the (bumpy) way back a herring gull closely followed the boat (the May Princess) all the way back to Anstruther. So I put my modest (in terms of focal length) 15-85mm lens to good use.

This may have been a common or garden European Herring Gull (Larus argentatus) but it was great to see this versatile bird effortlessly gliding along side us so closely and for so long. And yes, it was rewarded with a few scraps of our lunch.
