JP Azure comes visiting

JP Azure at Port MacKenzie in June 2010. According to an Anchorage Daily News story at the time, the vessel sailed to Port MacKenzie from Seward, loaded with 76,000 tons of Japan-bound coal. At Port MacKenzie, it was loaded with an additional 1,200 tons of coal that had been trucked from Healy. According to port director, the JP Azure was the largest ship to ever dock there. At 45.3 feet deep, it is also the deepest vessel ever to dock in upper Cook Inlet.
